BITC Health and Work Summit - 11 May 2010

BITC’s Health and Work Summit sponsored by NBTN and the Food and Drink Federation will take place on 11 May 2010 and NBTN members will be offered a discounted delegate rate. We are delighted that Active Travel will feature strongly in this summit and will link with the whole issue of employee well being.  As sustainable travel professionals, NBTN members have often commented on travel planning being on the periphery of the organisation. This summit acknowledges the importance of travel planning to Active Travel and moves it a step closer to where it should be – at the heart of the organisation.

Employees are a business’ greatest asset and their health and well being are paramount to business success. This one day conference focuses on the link between wellbeing and maximising engagement which will result in greater productivity for organisations. Sickness absence costs UK employers £8.4 billion a year, but £15.1 billion a year is lost through reduced productivity at work (presenteeism). Presenteeism accounts for 1.5 times as much working time lost as absenteeism.

This Summit will enable delegates to:

  • Make the business case for investing in employee health and wellbeing
  • Articulate the link between employee wellbeing and engagement to maximise the productivity for your organisation
  • Discover new research on public reporting on employee wellbeing and engagement
  • Be inspired by award winning case studies
  • Take away a new toolkit on musculoskeletal health which accounts for a higher proportion of sickness absence from work than any other health condition.
  • Be prepared for the future with new research on the ageing population
